Decorating Sugar Skulls…and Scrumptious Paninis from Café BellaOctober 19th, 2012 at 12:18 pm by michaelnewman under 2 KASA FOX
First of all, Happy Friday to everybody out there who has had a long week of work! TGIF and the weekend is upon us, with MANY THINGS TO DO may I add. (I will talk about that later) But, Its has been a very successful/exciting week as Im finish up my first week at the station as the Face of Fox. This week I have really been trying to get in the groove of everything, doing a lot of research of things going on in the community, keep up with my daily duties, AND helping out on everyone’s favorite show, New Mexico Style. Nikki and Kristen are such a delight to work with and we always have the most interesting guests on the show.
Today we had “SWEET” guest, Erin Gibson, the Calavera Queen, who gave us a demonstration on how to decorate sugar skulls.
With Dia de los Muertos coming up in a couple weeks, its time to get your calaveras together and Erin is showing you how to do it. You still have time to learn how to decorate your own, as they are going to be doing a workshop at Zacatecas Tacos on Saturday, Nov. 3, 12-3pm. So stop by for lunch and decorate a skull.
Speaking of lunch, today we had the most scrumptious Paninis, prepared and pressed fresh by the folks at Cafe Bella Coffee.
Here you see Chef and Owner, Michael Gonzales saute-ing up some sizzzzlin onions and apples that were deliciously placed on bed of greens, peppers, and topped off with some shredded mozzarella.
Here you can see this masterfully crafted sandwich, right before it was pressed to perfection, and placed quickly into the stomachs of our very mouth-watered TV crew. I was no bystander either, I definitely indulged, and let me tell you..it was nothing short of heavenly.
You guys should definitely check Cafe Bella Coffee out. All their coffee is roasted locally and all the deli items are sourced locally as well. And whats better than supporting a business that supports local, it really is the gift that keeps on giving. They are located at 2115 Golf Course Rd SE. #102 Rio Rancho New Mexico 87124 (505)994-9436
Also, stayed tuned because later today Im going to post a little snapshot of some cool things going on in the city this weekend…
