ABC Library Hosting New Community Baby Showers
New and Expecting Parents Learn of Resources and Programs to Enhance Children’s Lives
ALBUQUERQUE, NM- In an exciting plan to engage new and expectant parents in understanding the valuable role our public libraries can play in helping their child build a bright future, the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation is partnering with ABC Library to offer parents and parent-to-be events that share the many resources and programs that can greatly enhance their experience as parents, and begin a lifelong love of learning in their children at a very early age.
Julia Clarke, President of the Board for the Foundation, said of the planned Community Baby Showers, “The Albuquerque Public Library Foundation is pleased to partner with ABC Library in offering this program for parents-to-be. The public libraries are a lifelong partner for a family. Parents attending the Baby Shower will learn about community resources and learn about library programs for babies, children and families.”
The first Community Baby Shower will take place at Erna Fergusson Branch Library, 3700 San Mateo NE, on Sunday, March 24th from 2:30 – 4 p.m. Parents with new babies are invited to bring them along as they meet other new moms and dads. They can enjoy crafts, receive gifts and learn about the important resources that will help them raise a curious child who loves learning.
The Community Baby Showers will be scheduled quarterly at various library locations throughout Albuquerque. The events are free of charge.
Some of the partners in the program include: Albuquerque Business Education Compact; St. Joseph Community Health; ABQ Health Partners; March of Dimes; WIC; and the New Mexico Breastfeeding Task Force.
