The UNM Board of Regents is considering raising tuition by 14-percent for undergrads who are taking 12 credit hours or less. And 10 percent for those who take more credit hours. The change would mean students pay for each credit hour they take. Instead of the current system which charges a flat fee for 12 credits or more. The increase would fund financial aid, and pay raises for faculty and staff.
The treasure chest Santa Fe gallery owner, Forrest Fenn, wrote a poem in his memoir that contained clues to where a treasure chest with gold and jewels could be found. This chest is now causing some controversy. State and federal officials say if you find the hidden loot on government land, It belongs to the government. Officials warn you could face charges or be putting your life in danger. Last month, a woman from Texas got lost in the mountains overnight while looking for the treasure. And, the state plans to file charges against a man found digging last month under a descanso.
You can now follow Los Alamos National Lab on pinterest. Right now lanl only has 93 followers … But it does have some interesting boards. There’s “Gorgeous New Mexico” — with scenic pictures of the state. Then there’s “History: Los Alamos Style” Which features time magazine covers of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer — who is often called the “father of the atomic bomb”.
You can help these kids who are going through a tough time by supporting their effort to get a therapy dog. It’s a therapy dog that helps comfort kids who are in foster care, who’ve been abused, or are in other bad situations. State farm is giving away 40 grants for the dogs.
The roadrunner food bank of has been serving hungry New Mexicans for 33 years, and right now the food bank needs a big thumbs up from our viewers to earn a 45-thousand dollar grant to feed hungry kids.
