New Mexico’s own Medal of Honor recipient made quite the entrance at a ceremony in his honor yesterday. Army Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry parachuted into Fort Marcy Park just before his bronze statue was unveiled on the Santa Fe city hall lawn yesterday. Sergeant Petry was joined by two retired green berets… And a retired navy seal in his aerial jump.
This morning a baby black bear found wandering in a woman’s backyard in the foothills recently, is safe and in a rehab facility in Espanola. Game and fish say they took her there with a plan to fatten her up for the winter. You can see the bear was underfed, game and fish says she’s about half the weight she should be. They plan to release her back into the wild
The National Coalition for the Homeless estimates that 3.5 million people are homeless and about 10% of those have a pet. Pets of the homeless often lack the proper health care, which is why ABQ pet care Hospital is stepping in to offer veterinary care for this special population of dogs and cats.
