Emergency crews on the Santa Clara pueblo will be keeping an eye to the sky this week. This after heavy rains this weekend sent a wall of water rushing through the area. It devastated the area with flooding for the third year now. The rushing waters ripped apart culverts, pushed boulders the size of cars down the canyon and tons of mud and tree limbs were washed onto the overpasses which damaged tribal roads. Reservoirs that are supposed to slow down the water completely washed out. The heavy rains were one factor in the flooding.

Bernalillo county still hasn’t filled one of the county’s most important positions. The fire chief, for nearly a year. The county fire department has been managed by an interim chief. Discussions over qualifications and whether the county manager or the commission has the authority to hire a new chief has been a roadblock. That’s because there are two conflicting ordinances. Commissioner Wayne Johnson says now is the time to move forward.

We’ve all been seeing a lot of rain here in New Mexico. And actor Seth Macfarlane has noticed, as well. He tweeted about it at around 3:30 this morning. Macfarlane is producing a documentary series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey”… In Santa Fe.  The tweet was addressed to New Mexico saying quote … “If you could tone down the wind and the rain and the hail and the locusts … We’re trying to make a movie.”
