It’s not often you get to speak to an author you hold in the highest regard. James L. Swanson, author of End of Days, chronicles the last days of JFK’s life, leading up to his horrific assassination fifty years ago next Friday. I got to speak with the author via satellite about this book and about some truly haunting details of our 35th President’s final hours.
Did you know that JKF could have possibly predicted his own assassination? Did you know why Jackie O’ appeared to be crawling out of the presidential motorcade? It wasn’t to escape -and the real reason is hauntingly gruesome. It was the end of an era and a drastic change in who we are as Americans. As Swanson states, we will never know what the rest of the decade would have looked like, nor the rest of our American and global history. Get the full story in the book in bookstores now.
On to lighter subject matter, we’re celebrating Native American Heritage Month with Anasazi: Stone & Bone. Photographer and encaustic artist Angel Wynn has been documenting and honoring the Native culture of America all through her career and tonight, she opens her latest show featuring a contemporary view of ancient cultures and ruins. Located on Santa Fe’s famous Canyon Road, her studio will be abuzz with this display now, through December 31st.
And I made a new friend today. We’re besties now, really… Raven Rutherford, owner of Black Bird Pies, walks me through an amazing Pumpkin-Pecan pie that was truly incredible. This is absolutely one of my favorite times of year -and due in large part to all the yummy baking that takes place. You can get your pies ordered by getting in touch with Black Bird Pies by calling 850-6725. Friend her on Facebook as well.
And happy birthday, Raven!
Until next week, my friends…
