One of the best parts of the holiday season is the creativity that comes out in decorating. Gingerbread homes for an auction benefiting Albuquerque’s Meals on Wheels program is taking place tonight.

The holidays are now in full swing and many of you have pie on the mind, especially with Holiday Pie Mania starting this Saturday. Here to talk about what’s to come is Michele Ostrove, spokesperson for the event and Chef Sarah Hartford, who will be participating in Saturday’s event.

The snow has fallen, the slopes are open and the skis and snowboards are a sliding! It’s time to get your old gear ready to go or try out your new stuff. Jerry Shere and Lyndsi Johnson from Sport Systems is here with me.

Events like the Twinkle Light Parade make Albuquerque a great place to be for the holidays and it’s happening tomorrow! Eric Werner, operations and events manager for the city of Albuquerque, joins me now with what to expect this year.

Some of the cast of Sesame Street Live‘s “Can’t Stop Singing” has been with us all morning! Here to talk to us about the tour is Joey Baez, spokesperson for Sesame Street Live.

The Toys for Tots campaign is coming into its final days of collecting and then distributing to the less fortunate kids around town. In the final push, a phone bank was held for people to donate monetarily and with any toys and Albuquerque police officers took time out of their evening to go to people’s homes and pick up those donations.

The annual Holiday Shop and Stroll in OldTown is a New Mexican tradition. And here to tell us all about how you can go join in on the fun is James Dechamplon with the city of Albuquerque’s Historic Old Town events.

Community Calendar

Old town is kicking-off the holiday season with the Holiday Stroll.

There’s plenty of shopping, dining, photos with Santa and the stage will be full of live performances.

It all starts at 4 p.m. in Historic Old Town, with the traditional lighting of the largest tree in Albuquerque happening at 6:15 p.m.

You can park for free at 18th Street and Bellamah Avenue and take a shuttle.

Deal of the Day

While in old town today, you could take part in a class at Old Town Creative Studios.

It’s only $29 for a $59 Sippin’ and Paintin class.

This deal includes two glasses of wine, canvas, paints and other supplies. You can follow along with an instructor to create your own masterpiece to take home.

The art studio is located in old town at 323 Romero Street northwest.
