Question of the Day
‘Tis the season for giving, and sometimes receiving, and some of us have received some amazing, thoughtful gifts that touch the heart. What we want to know is: What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?
On 2 KASA This Morning
It’s been 10 years of learning and fun for anybody who has ever walked through the doors of the Explora Science and Learning Center near Old Town. David Romero reports in that time adults and children have enjoyed events and exhibits that not only educate but also allow for a little fun at the same time.
From celebration to looking deeper within yourself, everyone has their thoughts on the meaning of Christmas. There is one story out there that sets us straight and is now playing at Popejoy Hall on the UNM campus. Terry Davis from Popejoy is here to tell us why year after year people find “A Christmas Carol” so compelling.
When it’s cold outside Albuquerque and Rio Rancho’s homeless sometimes count on the kindness of strangers to keep warm. Don Chalmers Ford is trying to help by taking your donations this winter while also offering a service deal. Pamela Chavez, owner of the dealership, joins us to talk about the “Saranam Winter Clothing Drive,’ which ends soon. (Saranam drop-off bins are located at all Chalmers facilities: the main dealership, Rio Rancho Outlet, Coors Outlet and Rio Rancho and Coors Quick Lanes.)
On the Fourth Day of Thriftmas Gina Nielsen shows us how to make a framed display for your Christmas cards. There’s more informatino on Gina Nielsen’s Pinterest board»
Finding time to workout is tough for many folks whether you’re a working professional, someone who travels or a stay-at-home mom. What if you could work with a personal trainer via Skype whenever you have the time? Our Elizabeth Olivarez found out it’s possible.
Looking good is a must, not just for holiday parties, but year round. David Romero tells us the people at Gertrude Zachary Jewelry are in the business of doing, making you and your home look good as well.
The Jason Foundation says more than 5,400 teens try to commit suicide every single day. Here with us are Siddiq Muhammad, peer educator with GASP (Gun Access & Suicide Prevention), and Rosie Garibaldi, racial justice coordinator with the New Mexico Forum for Youth in Community. They work to raise awareness of gun issues including access, safety and suicide prevention and have developed educational workshops they present to both youth and adults throughout the state. Garibaldi can be contacted 505-821-3574 extension 106 or Rosie@nmforumforyouth.org. If you or someone you know is thinking about hurting themselves, contact the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line at 1‐855‐NMCRISIS (662‐7474).
This weekend you have the opportunity to go see over a hundred musically talented kids and adults at the “Festival of Voices.” Here to tell us more are Marilyn Bernard and Louise Loomis, choral conductors of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony program.
Every two seconds a new profile is added to LinkedIn. Are you one of them? If so executive recruiter and headhunter Shanna Landolt wants to make sure you’re using it to your advantage and not letting it be your worst enemy.
If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie or know someone who is, then what are you waiting for? You need to get out and join Food Tour New Mexico on one of their delicious tours. Nick Peña, owner of food tour New Mexico, and chef James Campbell Caruso, owner of MÁS Tapas y Vino in Hotel Andaluz tell us why.
Tomorrow on 2 KASA This Morning Kristen will be making a model of a comet. It’s something you can do at home but requires extra caution because we’ll be working with dry ice. We’ll also be talking with some kids who cyclocross. All this and more starting Friday morning at 7 on 2 KASA This Morning.
There’s a jazzy holiday celebration happening downtown and free today. Enjoy the Paul Gonzales Jazz Quartet at the Alvarado Transportation Center, First Street SW at Central Avenue, from noon-1 p.m.
All of us on 2 KASA This Morning would like to wish Aiden Placencio a very happy first birthday today! His parents say Aiden is such a joy and loves being around people, dancing and giving hugs and they love him so much! Thank you to Sonja for sending in the picture. Submit your birthday photos to 2 KASA Club»
Take a look at this fascinating picture out of Roswell. Our viewer Steve Harris sent it in showing some ice crystals forming on a tree. He wants to know how they are formed. Submit your photos to 2 KASA Club»
