The entire Toys for Tots campaign will see the first part of its payoff starting today as eligible parents go and pick up the toy that their child will open on Christmas. The Marines will be distributing the toys at the convention center through tomorrow.
There is a group of cyclists in the region prepping for a big race happening this weekend and it’s not just adults putting their wheels to the pavement, it is entire families! Sport Systems Mountain Top Cycling Group is having a regional Cyclocross Championship this Sunday. Mariachi Christmas is an annual celebration of Mexican Christmas traditions. You’ll have the opportunity to go experience it for yourself tonight. To tell us more about it is Francisco Loera, music director of Mariachi Aguila de Aztlan, and Noberta Fresquez, producer of Mariachi Christmas.
Today we will learn how to build a model of a comet. It will be a working model of a comet so it’ll look just like a comet you’d find in space. Here with me now is Doctor Jim Greenhouse, space science director at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.
More and more research is showing children are benefiting from some form of music education. There is a fairly new music program that is taking Albuquerque by storm. It’s called Music Together. Sandy Rubi with Sing and Swing Southwest in Albuquerque is offering this internationally recognized class.
There’s a great event happening tonight that will brighten up the holidays for you and the family. It’s Christmas at The Palace in Santa Fe.
Kids will get to meet Santa, enjoy some hot cider and cookies, make holiday cards on antique presses and get the chance to hit some piñatas. There will also be Christmas carols and classical music.
It’s happening tonight from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the New Mexico History Museum Palace of the Governors and admission is free!
There will also be a procession happening on Sunday.
