The holiday season is known for its sweets and there is nothing sweeter than a candy cane hanging from the Christmas tree. But just looking at them, you’d never know how much hard work goes into making the sweets.

The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department has been introducing a new pet up for adoption each day. They’re calling it the 12 Strays of Christmas. If you adopt one of these pets the adoption fee is only $12. That includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, a follow-up call with an adoption counselor, a goodie bag with coupons and some toys from PetCo.

It’s also the Ninth Day of Thriftmas with Thrifttown. Today Gina is making something great to use for decorating for a holiday party.

There is an organization making a difference in the New Mexico community by educating and supporting individuals and family’s in-need. Los Ojos De La Familia provides a variety of assistance to the community. Here to talk about that is the spokesperson and board member for the organization, Eric Strauss. Eric is also the host of the Eric Strauss Show on 770 KKOB A.M. and House of Strauss in Albuquerque.

One of the most popular holiday desserts is a pie no doubt! And who better to talk about that than Village Inn? Operations director John Christopher is here with a great display of delicious pies!

Where would we be without our pets, they are loyal to us throughout the year and what better way to thank them, then to get them a gift for Christmas as well. We have been looking at stocking stuffer gifts for under $10 all week long.

You have through the end of tomorrow to help out local shelter animals. Here to tell how you can do that is Desiree Cawley, marketing manager for Animal Welfare Department, and Mary Soto, kennel supervisor.

Are you getting ready to throw a big dinner with the family next week for the holidays? If so, you’ll want to make sure you have a centerpiece that impresses your guests! Here with me now is decorating guru Albert Torres.

The countdown to the holidays has begun, but with holiday fun comes plenty of extra waste! Here with me now is Janette Coates with Waste Management.
