Abdominal aortic aneurysms or a rupture in one of the body’s biggest arteries, is part of a disease not too many people are familiar with, but a medical episode which can prove fatal. Previously, the only way that a patient could have hope of surviving one was through an evasive surgery. With brand new technology, a new, less evasive procedure has been developed that’s giving patients more of a chance to live and have less time to recover. That same procedure was performed for one of the first times here in the United States and on a patient from Belen. Doctors say he was literally minutes from dying and after the procedure he was out of the hospital in mere days. David Romero caught up with the doctor and patient who were the first in the country to use the new process and it was in Albuquerque.

With Christmas now gone there is only one more thing to do and that’s welcome the new year with a Japanese tradition. These are Kadomatsu arrangements and you can see them now at the Albuquerque Biopark Botanic Garden in the SaseboJapaneseGarden. Maria Thomas is a curator at the botanic garden.

Christmas trees, lights that don’t work, old toys, old holiday decorations, what to do with them all? Well you can go green with some. Here to talk with us about what holiday waste items are recyclable, is acting director of the Solid Waste Management Department Jill Holbert.

About 25,000 people attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro every year and this year two of those people are here in the studio. Paul Rodney and 12-year-old Noah Rodney join us!

Today we’re talking about one of my favorite flowers poinsettias! Here with me now is Maria Thomas, assistant curator at the Albuquerque BioPark Botanic Garden.

We have less than a week left in 2013! Start your new year off right by running in the 2014 Egg Nog Jog! Here with me now is Alan Overmier, race director/organizer.
