Congrats to BrBa for their GoGl!January 13th, 2014 at 11:26 am by chadbrummett under 2 KASA Style
Bryan Cranston FINALLY getting some Golden Globe love last night, as well as the hard-working folks in NM that made Breaking Bad the icon of television history that it is. Cranston walked away with the GoGl for his performance as Walter White in the NM-based AMC drama, an award (in this blogger’s opinion) which is LONG overdue.
If you’re a native to the southwest, odds are you grew up with a healthy amount of love for turquoise. The gem is as indelibly New Mexican and southwestern as our green chiles and wide open spaces. However, there are a lot of things you may not know about the gem. Hop over to the Turquoise Museum to take in some fine examples of the rock and test your knowledge of the baby blue.
Thinking of getting in a 5k but want something a bit different? Betcha never ran a marathon in your PJ’s. Well, cross it off your bucket list, because this weekend you can do just that. The Pajama People Pizza Run is a great way to get some exercise in, benefit a great cause, eat some wood oven pizza and make new friends. Oh, and did I mention you get to do the run in your PJ’s? Awesome, I know!
Learning whether your kiddos have a speech disorder can be challenging and scary. We never want to discover any issues with our babies, but reality is -sometimes they need help beyond what we can give them as parents. Chatterbox Speech Therapy offers a unique, family-friendly environment of learning and development for children of all ages. They assist in screening and working with a number of disabilities, getting your little chatterboxes on track for clear communication.
I was a huge fan of Corey Feldman growing up. Only four years my senior, his movies serve as a road map of mine, and many of my contemporaries’, adolescence and young adulthood. So, clearly, I jumped at the chance to speak with him about his career and what’s to come in his future while he was here for Comic-Con. Great guy and great chance to meet a legend from my childhood. GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!
On a very serious note, we’re also talking to Dr. Howard Yonas at UNMH about Transient Ischemic Attacks, or TIA’s, which can be pre-cursors to major strokes. Small events such as loss of motor skills, speech impediments that last from 10-20 minutes can be red flags of a greater danger looming. Contact your doctor if you feel you may be experiencing one of these transient events.
If you’re like me, you’re making a number of resolutions for 2014. One of mine is to redecorate and re-organize my home. I’m speaking with Linnore Gonzales about options and ideas to spruce up any room in your home. She’s developed a great formula and workflow on ensuring you create a functional and aesthetically-pleasing environment for nearly any room in your home or office.
Lastly, one of those other resolutions I’m working on is better health. Squeezed Juice Bar is making that resolution easier to keep with incredible selections of juices, all fresh -no sugars or preservatives. Owner Ryan Fellows brought in a “mini-mobile juice bar” to whip up some incredible concoctions that boost energy, wellness, metabolism and overall health. Located near Evolution Fitness off Paseo, as well as hosting a juice truck touring the Duke City, they’re a great way to replenish after a workout.
Tomorrow on Style, we’re talking about what you need to know to avoid the flu. It’s rearing its ugly head in the Duke City and we’re talking with the Red Cross on keeping healthy. Plus, we head up to Ojo Caliente to taste the new 2014 menu you can enjoy during your rejuvinating stay at the ages-old mineral springs.
Here’s another shout out from the Golden Boys of Breaking Bad (l-r, Bryan Cranston, Vince Gilligan and Aaron Paul):
