Get dirty for a good cause

Break out those pastels and paints, y’all.  The Mudd Volleyball tourney is looking for a few good pigs… or drawings of pigs, that is.

The annual event benefits Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation by providing funds that will supply research and treatment for the children within its walls.  This year, they’re opening the doors to all artists in New Mexico who wish to take a crack at re-vamping their pig logo.  So, here’s your call to action, folks.  You have until January 31st to submit your design.

Today’s National Hot Pastrami Day, and we’re celebrating with Cheese and Coffee owner Jan Barringer.  Even if a hot pastrami isn’t your favorite deli delectable, Cheese and Coffee will satiate your appetite with a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and more.  Even gluten-free options!

If you have a teen or pre-teen looking for exceptional tutelage, The Bosque School offers a progressive, challenging and unique learning environment.  The college prep courses will both stimulate and challenge your child’s learning and gear them toward a successful collegiate career -regardless of fields of study.  They’re having an enrollment information night this evening if you’re thinking Bosque might be right for your family.

Stardust Dance Academy offers a slew of classes for kids of all ages.  Their “dance logic” courses teach coordination, rhythm as well as promoting positive exercise and self esteem.  We headed out to the studio to see the future dance stars in action and find out how they can get your little ones movin’ and shakin’.

If you think we’re out of the woods when it comes to flu season, think again.  Beverly Allen from the American Red Cross is in the studio sharing details about the organizations new app that promotes wellness and educates its audience to the cause, effects and preventions of influenza.  Bottom line: wash your hands, get immunized and be vigilant to ANY symptoms of the illness.

Lastly, take some time to yourself and your special someone at Ojo Caliente.  It’s not all soaks and serenity, though.  The Artesian Room offers fine dining in a low-key, relaxing environment.  We went up and sampled their incredible and dishes available now as part of their 2014 menu.
