MOMMY MCGYVERS (THIS CAKE IS SOOO GOOD BTW)

Grandma’s Texas Sheet Cake:

1 cup butter or margarine

1 cup water

4 Tablespoons cocoa

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

½ cup butter milk or ½ cup milk with 2 teaspoons vinegar mixed in

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

 

In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.

In a small mixing bowl, combine eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. In a large mixing bowl, combine remaining dry ingredients. Add egg mixture and chocolate mixture and stir together just until combined. Do not overbeat.

 

Spread in a greased sheet cake or rimmed cookie sheet pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.

 

Frosting:

½ cup butter or margarine

3 Tablespoons cocoa

3-4 Tablespoons milk

3-4 cups powdered sugar

 

In a medium saucepan, bring butter, cocoa, and milk to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar until frosting is a pourable consistency. Pour over warm cake and spread frosting evenly.
