During summer, it is really important to keep our children hydrated. They are in the heat, playing outside, and they don’t really think about drinking water until they are already hot and tired. Being hot and tired and thirsty are all LATE signs of deydration. Additional signs of dehyration are dry mouth/lips, and headache. It is really important to teach our children to “pre-hydrate”– we want to encourage them to drink before they go out to play, so making spa waters are such a great idea, because they are inviting and kids love them, so they are more likely to stay hydrated.

Spa waters are a great alternative to the sugary mixes and sodas and artificial drinks at the grocery store– none of them are really good for us anyway. Simply choose the flavors you’d like to use, and be sure to wash the fresh produce before you use it. Layer the fruits and berries in a large pitcher. Add water to fill the container, place in the fridge overnight, and it’s ready to go! Throughout the day, add more water to the container– the fruit continues to make it taste great!
