Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque Executive Director, Samantha Blauwkamp joined us on the show to talk about the upcoming Meals on Wheels fundraiser Egg-Stavaganza happening this Saturday. Folks can help the cause and get fed by celebrity chefs.

We spoke to Builders Source Appliance Gallery Vice President, Mike Williams, about some of the unique appliances that will make a statement in your home.

The youngest person to ever to hold the title of New Mexico Governor will be honored at the capitol today. Former Governor David Cargo’s body will lie in state at the capitol rotunda from 10-4 this afternoon. A memorial service will follow. Tomorrow at 10am there will be a mass of Christian burial at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis. Cargo will then be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. He was elected  governor back in 1966 and served two terms. He died Friday at a nursing home in Albuquerque at 84 years old.

Triple A New Mexico is holding a  job fair today. It’s happening from 3-6pm this afternoon at Triple A headquarters on Montgomery just west of Juan Tabo. Travel sales and customer service professional positions are available.

The new Downs Racetrack and Casino at the State Fairgrounds opens this morning at 9AM. It has more than 700 slot machines, a lounge and bar, a gourmet restaurant, and a new viewing area to watch the races. And, it’s putting a lot of people to work!

Animal humane in Albuquerque has a kitty crisis. The shelter has reached 130% capacity and needs to adopt out cats fast. For the next ten days animal humane is offering “name your price” adoptions on cats of all ages, and you get a free pet carrier too. Every pet at animal humane has been spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

A New Mexico State alum is taking her tiara to the small screen. “Crown Chasers” is a new TLC show about the cut-throat world of “Mrs. Pageants” — it’s for women who are a bit older than your typical Miss America contestants. Contestant Victoria Hughes used to live in Las Cruces and attended New Mexico State and she moved to Colorado about 10 years ago. The show is based in Denver and it premiered last night.
