We’ve all seen cops and deputies blow through red lights -sometimes with tragic consequences. Now, new policies are being adopted by the  Bernallio county sheriff and Albuquerque police are cracking down, completely eliminating “code 2″ – which means “lights only.” Now cops and deputies have to use their lights and sirens when they’re going through a red light. Both BCSO and APD say the new policy follows a nationwide trend to reduce lawsuits.

The City of Albuquerque is installing 21st century parking meters. 40 of the so-called “Smart Meters” are now located in historic Nob Hill and they allow drivers to pay for parking by those old fashion coins but also debit and credit cards. They instantly text the city when there’s a malfunction, when parking spots are full, and how much time remains on each paid meter.

And the experts say- New Mexico’s sunny disposition will help save taxpayers money too.

Another bear on a food run makes it into town and straight into the radar of residents. Our cameras were there when Game and Fish and APD corralled the bear in a backyard near Morris and Comanche — two miles from the foothills, last night.
