It is one of the most beautiful times of year in Albuquerque, as the streets are lined up with luminarias (or farolitos, depending where your from). One of the best places to view the luminarias is Old Town, and to many families it is a tradition to walk the streets of old town and really take in the lanterns.
I got the opportunity to be part of that action, and captured alot of great photos…
Sidewalks were shining bright in Old Town as the houses around the main square were illuminated by luminarias.
Here you see strangers coming together to make little Choirs in the Main Square to sing Christmas Carols.
Here is one of the narrow alleyways of Old Town, beautifully decorated with an arrangement of Christmas lights and luminarias.
This was a bright Xmas tree made of all recycled water bottles!
Here I am in one of the shops getting my sombrero on!
This was a first! Multicolored luminarias. It was cool to see all those colors glow at night, sort of like Lite-Brite’s.
Overall, it was a beautiful night in Old Town, and a great way to start off the Christmas celebration.

Today started out pretty chili, as I stepped out into40 degree weather on my way to work. But as the sun came over the Sandias, its ended up being a refreshing day with the perfect balance of a cool breeze and warm sun. I thought it was a perfect day to walk around outside and see what people are doing. I decided to spend some of my day in the beautiful and historic, Old Town. I thought it would be cool to just wander the narrow streets of Old Town and really just experience it without any destination, you know, just take it in. And thats what I did, and my…was I shocked to what I would find. I captured lots of images too! Check them out.
This was an entry way to one of the alleys near The Plaza. As you can see, it was beautifully decorated with hanging red chile.
Now, a little closer view of one of New Mexico’s staples.
And then I saw this. I felt like I had a flashback into the 50′s. This car was in such pristine condition that I had to take a picture of it. And on a day like today, there would be nothing like taking a joy ride in this with the top down.
This is just a LITTLE glimpse into some of the great moments I captured today. Lookout next week for the photo gallery with all the pictures I took today.
Until then, have a good weekend everybody! If your looking for something to do this weekend, the 2 KASA FOX calendar is a great source to find all the things going 0n around town. Click here to see it.
