Dr. Daniel Duhigg, who is the Addiction Psychiatrist at the UNM Pain Center joined us on the show to talk about the role prescription and nonprescription drugs play with managing chronic pain and how psychiatrists can help mitigate addiction issues.

The Liquid Muse, Natalie Bovis joined us in our Builders Source Kitchen to showcase some Bastille Day inspired cocktails!

We got to watch the CNN story about Tim Harris, owner of Tim’s Place-The World’s Friendliest Restaurant, which was featured by Sanjay Gupta on the show called “Human Factor.”

We got the inside scoop of the Lobo Women’s Football Clinic that happening the Thursday, celebrating its 20th year!

Zacatecas Taqueria and Tequila Bar Executive Chef Daniel Marquez joined us in the Builders Source Kitchen to talk about their authentic Mexican cuisine and experience as well as cook up some good stuff from the menu.

In the Community

Some people in and around the metro area remain without power this morning after a massive storm causes problems. The storm hit the westside of Albuquerque pretty hard knocking out power at one time for thousands of people drivers dealt with dark street lights.. Flashing traffic signals… And flooded streets along Unser after at least an inch of standing water blanketed the road. Arroyos were filling up quickly with all the water.

Authorities want to make sure you stay safe in case if floods. AFD is giving away sandbags to those living in Albuquerque.  Property owners can use these bags to protect themselves from damage from dangerous flash.

And speaking of all this rain, while it may be causing headaches for PNM to restore power, it may be restoring some much needed moisture to our lands. It’s prompted agencies like the State Forestry Division and the Mid-Rio Grande Conservancy District to lift some fire restrictions on public lands. On Friday, the Mid-Rio Grande Conservancy District announced they will open the bosque in Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia and Socorro counties tomorrow morning.

The duke city’s newest football stadium won’t open until late next month…but it’s already getting great reviews. APS’s leaders are telling the Albuquerque Journal that the new community stadium…will easily be one of the premiere places for pigskin and other events in the whole state. It seats 7,500 has state-of-the-art locker rooms, and great views from the seats. This season’s football games kick-off the end of next month.

The Director of the University of New Mexico Pain Center, Neurologist Joanna Katzman, joined us on the show to talk about how to identify and treat chronic headaches and migraines.

Michael Harles from Alamosa Books joined us on the show to talk about some hot summer books for teens and adults.

Shalen Holt, A Los Lunas teen who published his first children’s book joined us on the show. The name of the book is “Colors of Zaki” and it is a colorful tale about a young zebra that encourages kids to pursue their dreams.

The Daily Grind restaurant owner Nancy Rogers joined us in our Builders Source Kitchen to cook up some of her delicious lime pie as well as talk about the new location they are in.

Successful actor and Albuquerque native Chad Brummett joined us on the couch to talk about the new highly-anticipated film he was part of, The Lone Ranger. He talked about his experience working with Johnny Depp and playing a cowboy while filming in his home state.

In the Community

A pedestrian bridge in Northeast Albuquerque that was damaged by fire over the weekend will not re-open for months and it’s going to cost you a lot of money to fix. In fact, the state’s Department of Transportation says it’ll probably cost at least $100,000 to fix the tramway bridge between Candelaria and Menaul.

New laws go into effect today in New Mexico. One of them now requires more sex offenders to register in New Mexico, including those who are on sex-offender lists in other states and later move here. Another law changes retirement programs for the public employees retirement association. Now, most workers have to pay more into those retirement plans and the cost of living benefits they get every year are getting decreased.
